He said that it doesn't really provide much in terms of a career path because of how the technology is dead and the process itself is rarely used, but it's a good thing to do if you're particularly interested in the roots and history of graphic design.
I don't really have an interest in using a letterpress, I feel like it's a lot of unnecessary effort for what it is, and has more of a sentimental value than anything else. Personally that it's more of a good example of pastiche in a contextual sense rather than something I'd ever want to or need to use in practice.
It was interesting to hear what the guy had to say about print though, as he claimed that "print is dead", despite working in the print industry. I think this sort of statement from him represents the dominance of digital design over print.
